How to Do Lydia Deetz Beetlejuice Makeup for Halloween

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Bee....ware you'll wanna wear this long after October 31.

Milk Makeup is celebrating Spooky Season all month. Every year, you turn our Hydro Grip best sellers into so many killer looks that we’ve officially dubbed this month Hydroween. Throughout October, you’ll see us rolling out all the Halloween costume inspiration you’ll need for 2024, created by our Milk Fam with your favorite Milk Makeup products.

Today, it’s makeup artist Oluwakemi (@saintlilithhh) and her “Beetlejuice” Halloween makeup look. Keep reading to see how she gives a fresh spin to a classic look.

One of the year’s most popular Halloween makeup looks takes inspiration from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the highly-anticipated sequel to the stylishly spooky 1988 cult classic film. But if channeling the creepy title character is a little much for your taste, instead look to the rebellious Lydia Deetz, played by Winona Ryder in both films. (Btw, did you know the original film won the Academy Award for Best Makeup? So much good inspo!)

The best part of this eye-focused look is it’s easy to recreate with just a few Milk Makeup essentials. The key? Using Hydro Grip to lock your look in place so it lasts all night long. Get the simple tutorial here, and get ready to shake, shake, shake, señora.

1. Prep Skin

Refresh skin with a few spritzes of Hydro Grip Set + Refresh Spray. Let it absorb, then apply 1-2 pumps of our skincare-infused Hydro Grip Primer to the whole face with your fingers or a brush. Let it set for a full minute to activate the grip formula and 12-hour hold.

2. Apply Your Base

Blend in your foundation, then camouflage dark circles and any blemishes with Future Fluid Creamy Hydrating Concealer. Let the concealer sit on skin before blending—it’s super creamy, so it won’t dry down!—and then use Sculpt Stick to contour areas where your face naturally has shadows (we recommend underneath the cheekbones, at the temples, at the top of the forehead, and the jawline). Then, use a brush to blend out the concealer and contour for an airbrushed finish.

3. Dark Shadows

Next, it’s time to add dimension to your Lydia look. Sweep a black powder eyeshadow across the top lid, followed by a dark red liner on the bottom lash line. Use a blending brush to give both shades soft edges.

4. Line + Define

Use a sharp black eyeliner on the waterline and to give more definition to the top lid, lightly blending it into the black shadow with your finger. Then, follow with our volumizing KUSH High Rool Mascara for long, defined lashes.

5. Set + Spook

Your look is almost complete! Finish with more Hydro Grip Set + Refresh Spray to lock in your look, and then you’re ready for an iconic Hydroween!
