In 2013, Lana Del Rey inspired us to top our heads with flower crowns and paint our lips burgundy. Ten years later, Cinnamon Girl makeup is taking over TikTok—a deliciously monochromatic beauty look set to her song of the same name.
Just like the spice, Cinnamon Girl makeup focuses on warm tones of decadent brown, rusty orange, and rich copper on the lids, lips, and cheeks. We like to think of this food-inspired trend as the fall-ready version of a summery bronzed glow. It pairs gorgeously with chunky cable-knit sweaters, thick scarves, and teddy coats.
With temperatures starting to drop in New York City, we knew we had to give Cinnamon Girl makeup a try. Here’s how our Editorial Manager Jihan Forbes (she/her) concocted her ultra-cozy Cinnamon Girl makeup look with Milk Makeup products.
1. Mattify your skinStart off your Cinnamon Girl makeup by priming your skin with Pore Eclipse Mattifying Primer to give it a cozy, cashmere-like finish. Plus, “Using primer will create a gripped base for everything that follows to ‘stick’ onto,” says Sara Wren, Milk Makeup’s Director of Artistry. |
2. Fluff up your brows

3. Add warmthWarm skin is a Cinnamon Girl makeup essential. Cultivate just that with Matte Bronzer. Not sure which shade to use? “Dazed is great for very fair or fair clients who find traditional bronzers too warm or orange,” Sara says. “Blitzed and Spaced are designed for deep and very deep skin tones that find traditional bronzer shades too light or chalky.” Jihan added the stick in Blitzed to her forehead, cheeks, and across the bride of her nose. In other words, the areas where the sun would naturally warm up your skin tone, Sara says. |
4. Build up your flushJihan layered two different shades of Lip + Cheek to create an autumnal aura blush moment that gave her cheeks major depth and dimension. She began by laying down a terracotta base with the shade Swerve on her cheekbones and on the bridge of her nose. Then, she added Quirk, a spiced rose hue to the apples of her cheeks and blended it out. |
5. Spice up your eyesShimmery shadow is a must for Cinnamon Girl Makeup. Jihan started the eyes by laying down a base of coppery shimmer shadow, blending it out with a matte reddish-brown crease color. She intensified the look by swiping Color Chalk in Kickball over top. Next, Jihan drew a subtle wing with Infinity Long Wear Liner in Limitless onto her upper lash line, and used Outer Space in the waterline. She finished the eyes by coating her lashes in KUSH Mascara. From there, you can add any moody red or brown color you want to your lips. Jihan went for a warm brown lip liner and a gloss with a subtle gold sparkle to complement the shimmer on her eyes. |
